Vern Dosch is the former President and CEO of NISC, the technology cooperative headquartered in Mandan. During his tenure from 2002 to 2020, membership grew from 392 to more than 850, the employee population grew from 400 to roughly 1,400, and investment in research and development went from $1 million to more than $50 million.
In 2021 he was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame, the highest honor in the U.S. cooperative community. A lifelong resident of Bismarck-Mandan, Vern holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Management from the University of Mary.
He is the author of Wired Differently, which tells the story of NISC through the lens of servant leadership and shared values. He has never taken a profit from the book. Proceeds go to a benevolence fund for NISC employees in distress.
Vern built a career on the conviction that serving people first is the strategy, not a soft addition to it.
